A summary of the resource.
The outer-sphere redox behaviour of a series of [LnCoIIINCFeII( CN)5]− (Ln = n-membered pentadentate aza-macrocycle) complexes have been studied as a function of pH and oxidising agent. All the dinuclear complexes show a double protonation process at pH � 2 that produces a shift in their UV/Vis spectra. Oxidation of the different non-protonated and diprotonated complexes has been carried out with peroxodisulfate, and of the non-protonated complexes also with trisoxalatocobaltate(III). The results are in agreement with predictions from the Marcus theory. The oxidation of [Fe(phen)3]3+ and [IrCl6]2− is too fast to be measured, although for the latter the transient observation of the process has been achieved at pH = 0. The study of the kinetics of the outer-sphere redox process, with the S2O8 2− and [Co(ox)3]3− oxidants, has been carried out as a function of pH, temperature, and pressure. As a whole, the values found for the activation volumes, entropies, and enthalpies are in the following margins, for the diprotonated and non-protonated dinuclear complexes, respectively: ΔV� from 11 to 13 and 15 to 20 cm3 mol−1; ΔS� from 110 to 30 and −60 to −90 J K−1 mol−1; ΔH� from 115 to 80 and 50 to 65 kJ·mol−1. The thermal activation parameters are clearly dominated by the electrostriction occurring on outer-sphere precursor formation, while the trends found for the values of the volume of activation indicate an important degree of tuning due to the charge distribution during the electron transfer process. The special arrangement on the amine ligands in the isomer trans- [L14CoIIINCFeII(CN)5]− accounts for important differences in solvent-assisted hydrogen bonding occurring within the outer-sphere redox process, as has been established in redox reactions of similar compounds.

El conocido efecto adverso sobre la salud de los acidos grasos trans y las recomendaciones relativas a la necesidad de eliminacion de los mismos en las grasas destinadas a la elaboracion de alimentos, ha obligado a la industria alimentaria a buscar alternativas que permitan sustituir las grasas parcialmente hidrogenadas por materiales grasos de funcionalidad similar. Si bien no se trata de una problematica reciente, aun la industria exige soluciones frente a disposiciones legales cada vez mas exigentes y la demanda de productos mas saludables por parte del consumidor. En este escenario, el aceite de salvado de arroz (RBO) aparece como una materia prima particularmente atractiva, ademas de ser un derivado obtenido de una actividad agropecuaria de gran importancia en nuestro pais, presenta propiedades particulares que lo diferencian del resto de los aceites comunes producidos en nuestro medio. Su elevado contenido de acido palmitico (~ 18 %) le confiere una inusual heterogeneidad en relacion al largo de cadena de sus acidos grasos. Adicionalmente, el alto porcentaje de insaponificables ricos en compuestos bioactivos le confieren capacidad antioxidante y efectos beneficos sobre la salud humana. Pese a estas caracteristicas su uso no se ha diversificado y actualmente se lo utiliza como tal, destacandose su uso como aceite para fritura, dada su elevada estabilidad oxidativa. En este trabajo se propone el diseno de fases grasas cero-trans con propiedades atractivas para destinar a alimentos que requieren de materiales lipidicos con estructura, a partir exclusivamente de este aceite. Para ello se lo hidrogeno completamente, se lo mezclo en diferentes proporciones con el aceite nativo sin hidrogenar y finalmente las mezclas se sometieron a una etapa de interesterificacion enzimatica. Los resultados mostraron que la interesterificacion genero productos mas pobres en los triacilgliceroles (TAG) caracteristicos tanto del FHRBO (tri-saturados) como del RBO (tri-insaturados), generandose nuevas especies de TAG de grado de saturacion intermedia (di-saturados mono-insaturados y di-insaturados mono-saturados). Estos cambios generaron productos compuestos por TAG mas compatibles que los de las mezclas de partida. 3 El analisis por calorimetria diferencial de barrido mostro que los productos presentaron menor temperatura de fusion completa que las mezclas correspondientes, asi como menores contenidos de solidos (SFC), determinados por analisis de resonancia magnetica nuclear de pulsos (p-NMR). Como consecuencia de estos cambios, los productos mostraron rangos de fusion y contenido de solidos que sugieren una plasticidad mejorada con respecto a la de las mezclas. Adicionalmente, el analisis por difraccion de Rayos-X (XRD) mostro una fuerte tendencia del FHRBO a cristalizar bajo la forma ƒÀf, lo que se puede atribuir a la heterogeneidad aportada por su relativamente alto contenido de acido palmitico. Si bien tal tendencia disminuyo a medida que se redujo el porcentaje de FHRBO en las mezclas, el efecto se revirtio en los productos de interesterificacion, los que presentaron tambien una marcada tendencia ƒÀf. En linea con lo anterior la morfologia cristalina determinada por microscopia de luz polarizada (PLM) tambien mostro cambios en el tipo de agregados cristalinos, prevaleciendo en los productos esferulitos mas regulares y homogeneos, a diferencia de los agregados irregulares presentados por las muestras. Se ensayo la formulacion de margarinas a partir de algunos productos seleccionados, encontrandose que aquella elaborada con el producto proveniente de la mezcla conteniendo 30% de FHRBO resulto con propiedades muy similares a la de una margarina de mesa comercial. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que la hidrogenacion completa del aceite de salvado de arroz, su mezcla con aceite sin hidrogenar y la posterior interesterificacion enzimatica de la mezcla, ofrece una metodologia versatil para la obtencion de fases grasas cero-trans con diferentes propiedades fisicoquimicas, aptas para diferentes aplicaciones en el area alimentaria. Estos materiales, ademas de ofrecer una alternativa a las grasas parcialmente hidrogenadas tradicionales, contienen compuestos bioactivos beneficiosos para la salud, ofreciendo ademas la posibilidad de potenciar el uso de un aceite nacional de mayor interes.

Las galectinas, son proteínas que poseen alta afinidad por β-galactósidos. Dichas proteínas poseen un dominio conservado denominado Dominio de Reconocimiento a Carbohidrato (DRC), donde se da la interacción con sus ligandos. En particular las galectinas 1 y 3 han sido ampliamente estudiadas, ya que se encuentran vinculadas a distintos procesos biológicos, entre otros adhesión celular, extravasación celular y metástasis, favoreciendo el desarrollo tumoral. Por esta razón se han convertido en un blanco prometedor para la terapia contra el cáncer ya que se podría inhibir su capacidad pro-tumorogénica bloqueando el sitio de unión a carbohidratos con glicósidos que compitan con sus ligandos naturales. En este marco el objetivo general de esta tesis fue establecer una estrategia que permitiera el diseño racional de inhibidores de galectinas con potencial actividad antitumoral. Para ello se propuso el desarrollo in silico de modelos computacionales, capaces de predecir la naturaleza de la interacción entre los ligandos seleccionados y las galectinas. Por otro lado se realizó la síntesis enzimática de dichos compuestos y la evaluación de su actividad biológica mediante estudios in vitro. Se sintetizaron enzimáticamente cinco galactósidos: β-D-Galp-(16)-β-D-Galp-(14)-D-Glcp (2), la mezcla β-D-Galp-(16)-β-D-Glcp-(14)-D-Glcp (3) y β-D-Galp-(13)-β-D-Glcp-(14)-D-Glcp (4), β-D-Galp-(16)-β-D-GlcNAcp-(14)-D-GlcNAcp (6) y el galactósido de carácter aromático bencil-β-D-galactopiranósido (5), aplicando el sistema de transglicosilación catalizado por la enzima β-galactosidasa de Aspergillus oryzae. Posteriormente se estudió la afinidad y especificidad de unión in silico de las galectinas 1 y 3 y los β-galacto-compuestos sintetizados junto con otros disacáridos de origen comercial. Para ello se aplicaron distintas simulaciones de Dinámica Molecular, en combinación con experimentos de Docking Molecular, en la búsqueda de generar modelos computacionales capaces de reproducir y predecir las interacciones entre las galectinas y sus ligandos. A su vez, se estimaron las energías libres de unión (ΔG) de cada complejo galectina-ligando obtenido. Con el objetivo de validar los modelos teóricos obtenidos, se estudió la interacción galectina-ligando mediante dos ensayos biológicos in vitro: ensayo en fase sólida e ITC. Los resultados obtenidos, mostraron una óptima correlación entre los resultados experimentales y teóricos, validando los modelos generados previamente. A pesar de la complejidad intrínseca del modelado de carbohidratos y lo expuesto al disolvente del DRC, en esta tesis se obtuvieron modelos teóricos preliminares, capaces de sortear dichas dificultades. Si bien los ligandos sintetizados no mostraron afinidades superiores a las de los ligandos de referencia (lactosa y N-acetil-lactosamina), los resultados obtenidos, constituyen un estudio detallado de la naturaleza de dichas interacciones. De hecho se pudieron establecer diversos aspectos de la naturaleza química del ligando que influyen en la interacción con la galectina. Por un lado la naturaleza del enlace entre la galactosa y el segundo azúcar es fundamental, siendo los enlaces β-(14) y β-(13) los que presentan mayor afinidad. Otro aspecto a tener en cuenta es la identidad de dicho azúcar, determinándose que la presencia del grupo N-acetilo en el carbono 2 del residuo glucopiranósico, mejora la interacción con el subsitio D de las galectinas, tanto 1 como 3. Finalmente, la adición de un tercer azúcar no resulta beneficioso respecto a la energía de unión. Esto no quiere decir que ligandos más grandes no puedan ser más afines por la galectina, sino que en principio estructuras de tipo trisacáridos no sería suficiente y no evidencian diferencias respecto a los disacáridos. Finalmente los modelos teóricos generados en esta tesis representan un importante insumo para el diseño y síntesis de inhibidores de galectinas más potentes.

Abstract

La Enfermedad de Alzheimer ha sido reconocida como la causa más común de demencia en la población geriátrica, estando presente en aproximadamente el 60% de los casos de demencia. En el año 2016 se estimó que globalmente hay 47.5 millones de personas que la presentan. Al día de hoy no ha sido posible establecer el origen de la enfermedad y se han desarrollado diversas hipótesis. Entre éstas, las que presentan más relevancia son la hipótesis colinérgica, que se basa en la disminución de la acetilcolina en las terminales sinápticas, con la consecuente disminución de la sinapsis colinérgica, y la hipótesis de la cascada amiloide, que inicialmente relacionó la aparición de las placas seniles en los espacios extracelulares con el desencadenamiento de la enfermedad. Ninguna de estas hipótesis ha sido confirmada como disparadora de la enfermedad, y no ha sido posible desarrollar un tratamiento efectivo. Las terapias disponibles no son capaces de revertir o detener el daño causado por esta dolencia. La enzima caspasa-3 constituye un posible blanco terapéutico debido a que está relacionada con la formación del péptido beta amiloide y de los ovillos neurofibrilares por acumulación de la proteína tau. Además, se encuentra sobreactivada selectivamente en etapas tempranas de la enfermedad en cerebro humano. En esta Tesis de Doctorado se buscó diseñar nuevos compuestos orgánicos como posibles inhibidores selectivos y reversibles de caspasa-3 en base a una serie de 10 inhibidores de caspasa-3 y -7 derivados de 2-(1,4-benzodioxan)-1,3-tiazol reportados (Fattoruso et al., 2005, J. Med. Chem. 48, 1649–1656). Se realizaron en primer lugar estudios in silico exploratorios de la interacción de estos inhibidores en caspasa-3 y -7, los cuales fueron publicados (Minini et al., 2017, J. Mol. Struct. 1147, 558–568). A partir de las conclusiones de ese primer trabajo se diseñaron cuatro nuevas series de derivados tiazólicos (derivados de 4-feniltiazol-2-carbamato, 2-amino-4-feniltiazol, 2-amino-4- naftiltiazol y 4-feniltiazol-2-éter). Se obtuvieron 41 de estos derivados mediante metodologías de síntesis orgánica convencional con rendimiento moderado a bajo. Hasta donde se tiene conocimiento, la preparación de la serie de derivados de feniltiazoléter, basada en la síntesis de Williamson de éteres, no ha sido reportada. Se evaluó la capacidad inhibitoria sobre la actividad de caspasa-3 de los derivados obtenidos utilizando enzima recombinante humana y como sustrato un péptido fluorogénico. En ensayos preliminares, a una concentración de 100 μM de compuesto, se obtuvo que ciertos derivados resultaron capaces de inhibir la caspasa-3. Se continuó la caracterización de los derivados seleccionados, realizando estudios preclínicos. Se realizaron ensayos de citotoxicidad de los compuestos en la línea celular de hipocampo de ratón HT22; a una concentración de 100 μM, los compuestos estudiados afectaron en distinta magnitud VI la viabilidad celular. Se evaluó si se generaban metabolitos de los compuestos al ser sometidos a la fracción S9 (citosólica y microsomal) obtenida a partir de un homogeneizado de hígado de rata; seis de los compuestos seleccionados generaron nuevas entidades en las condiciones de ensayo. A su vez, se evaluó la posible capacidad de estos derivados de cruzar la barrera hematoencefálica mediante el ensayo in vitro en paralelo de permeabilidad artificial (PAMPA). Para su realización fue necesario llevar a cabo una técnica para la extracción de lípidos polares de cerebro porcino. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren que los derivados serían capaces de cruzar la barrera hematoencefálica en las condiciones del ensayo. Por último, se evaluó la mutagenicidad de los compuestos mediante el ensayo AMES; sólo uno de los evaluados no resultó mutagénico en ninguna de las cepas de Salmonella entérica typhimurium utilizadas. Paralelamente, mediante estudios in silico de docking ligando-proteína y dinámica molecular de una selección de derivados, se identificaron los posibles sitios de interacción no covalente con caspasa- 3 y -7. Se identificaron como sitios preferenciales de interacción, regiones cercanas a los bolsillos catalíticos de las enzimas. A su vez se estudió si la interacción con estos derivados generaba cambios estructurales en las enzimas, que pudieran explicar la inhibición. En este sentido, la presencia de los derivados no mostró inducir cambios significativos en el posicionamiento de residuos claves para la actividad de las enzimas. Por último, se realizaron ensayos de diferencia de la transferencia de la saturación por resonancia magnética nuclear (RMN) para verificar la posible interacción entre los ligandos y caspasa-3 y -7. No fue posible obtener resultados con estos ensayos debido a problemas en la solubilidad de los derivados en el amortiguador del ensayo y a las altas concentraciones necesarias para su realización. Los intentos para obtener valores de constante de inhibición de los derivados sobre la caspasa-3 fueron infructuosos debido a la interferencia de algunos de los compuestos en el ensayo de fluorescencia así como a problemas en la solubilidad de los mismos, que generaron variabilidad en los resultados obtenidos y no permitieron reproducir los porcentajes de inhibición de los ensayos preliminares. En suma, esta Tesis de Doctorado aporta elementos para el desarrollo de derivados con potencial inhibitorio sobre caspasa

El descubrimiento de los antibióticos dio lugar al comienzo de una nueva era en el tratamiento de enfermedades infecciosas, reduciendo la morbi-mortalidad de afecciones consideradas letales hasta la tercera década del siglo XX. En particular, el uso de los antibióticos β-lactámicos (AβL) ha sido uno de los acontecimientos más revolucionarios en medicina que permitió el desarrollo de la profilaxis y el tratamiento de las infecciones bacterianas como se conoce hoy en día. Los AβL se caracterizan por presentar en su estructura un anillo de β-lactama y un grupo ácido carboxílico, perteneciendo a este grupo las penicilinas, cefalosporinas, carbapenemos y monobactamas, ver Figura 1 1. En la presente tesis doctoral se pretende profundizar en las respuestas a preguntas de relevancia en un tema de salud humana como es la farmacología para el tratamiento de enfermedades neoplásicas, en particular, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). La falta de tratamientos eficientes para gliomas de alto grado, como lo es el GBM, conduce a la necesidad de la I+D en nuevas estrategias farmacológicas eficaces. En esa línea, en el terreno de la terapia oncológica se ha experimentado una rápida evolución hacia la llamada terapia dirigida a blancos moleculares (en inglés, targeted therapy). Esta modalidad de tratamiento utiliza fármacos que van específicamente dirigidos a dianas moleculares que han demostrado desempeñar un rol crucial en la supervivencia, proliferación o capacidad invasiva de las células tumorales. En el caso de GBM, los receptores celulares con actividad tirosina quinasa (EGFR, VEGFR, PDGFR, entre otros) son claros ejemplos de dianas prometedoras. Por otro lado, actualmente se encuentra en estudio la terapia para GBM por captura neutrónica de boro (BNCT, del inglés Boron Neutron Capture Therapy) técnica que involucra radioterapia in situ. Se basa en la inusual capacidad del nucleido 10B (un isotopo estable de boro) en capturar neutrones térmicos de baja energía produciéndose partículas alfa y núcleos de litio los que depositarán la energía en la célula tumoral. En la presente tesis se abordó la modificación estructural de compuestos con bioactividad reconocida, los fármacos erlotinib y sunitinib, mediante hibridación molecular con entidades con alto contenido de boro, entre ellos carboranos y metalacarboranos. Se estudió la actividad biológica de los compuestos desarrollados, in silico, in vitro e in vivo, así como la determinación de boro intracelular con el objetivo de poder ser aplicados en procesos de BNCT.

Con el objetivo de desarrollar potenciales radiofármacos de 99mTc para imágenes de zonas de hipoxia, se han diseño, sintetizado y evaluado una serie de complejos de 99mTc conteniendo ligandos nitroimidazólicos. Para la síntesis de los ligandos se seleccionó el grupo 5-nitroimidazol como farmacóforo y a partir del fármaco comercial Metronidazol® (1-(2-metil-5- nitroimidazol-1-il)etanol), el que se puede obtener en cantidad y calidad necesaria, se realizaron las modificaciones químicas necesarias para acoplarle las distintas unidades quelantes necesarias para coordinar el metal, así como modificar la distancia através de una cadena espaciadora (linker). Para unir al Tc se seleccionaron los complejos tricarbonílicos de Tc(I) (COMPLEJOS 1 y 2), complejos Tc(V) nitrido (COMPLEJOS 3 y 4) y los complejos Tc(III) 4+1 (COMPLEJOS 5 y 6) a fin de poder evaluar la influencia del core empleado en las propiedades finales de los co jos obtenidos. Para ello se prepararon 6 ligandos, 2 por cada sistema de unión al metal utilizado, variando en cada caso la cadena espaciadora y la unidad quelante. Todos los complejos son preparados por sustitución utilizando el precursor adecuado en cada caso, el cual contiene al metal en el estado de oxidación requerido que puede ser fácilmente sustituidos por el ligando final. Los estudios fisicoquímicos revelan que los complejos preparados presentan variada lipofilicidad, siendo los mas hidrofílicos los complejos tricarbonílicos de Tc(I), presentando un logP de -0.44±0.04 para el COMPLEJO 1 y -0.75±0.08 para el COMPLEJO 2. Los compuestos mas lipofílicos fueron los complejos 4+1 de Tc(III) con logP de 0.7±0.1 y 1.2±0.3 para el COMPLEJO 5 y 6 respectivamente. Los complejos de Tc(V) nitrido presentan una lipofilicidad similar a los complejos 4+1 de Tc(III). destacar que, como era esperado, los COMPLEJOS 4 y 6 que contienen en cadena espaciadora un anillo piperacina presentan la mayor lipofilia dentro de la serie. Todos los complejos presentan una muy buena estabilidad en plasma, siendo la pureza radioquímica en todos los casos superior al 85% a las 4 horas de incubación a 37 ºC. La unión a proteínas determinada por exclusión molecular resultó adecuada para los complejos 1, 2, 3 y 5, estando en valores del 12 al 30 %. Los complejos que presentan el anillo piperacina (complejos 4 y 6), en cambio presentaron una elevada unión (69±3% y 75±4% respectivamente). Se desarrolló una metodología que permitió realizar la evaluación de los complejos en células tumorales humanas (HCT-15) en condiciones de hipoxia, obteniéndose para todos los complejos relaciones de captación entre hipoxia e oxia superiores a 1, siendo la mayor para el COMPLEJO 1 (2.2±0.3). Los estudios de biodistribución en ratones CD1 normales, realizados entre 30 min. y 4 horas post-inyección,mostraron una buena correlación con las propiedades fisicoquímicas. El complejo de mejor perfil es el COMPLEJO 1, ya que presenta una baja actividad sanguinea, rapida d ón de tejidos blandos y eliminación combinada por vía urinaria y hepatobiliar (64.86±4.95% y 46.86±2.39% respectivamente a las 4 horas). Los complejos 4 y 6 (como era de esperar) mostraron una muy alta captación en hígado (54-55% a las 4h) y una muy baja eliminación (10-12 % a las 4h). La captación en tumor evaluada en animales portadores de sarcoma de Lewis murino (células 3LL), demostró la captación y retención de los complejos en el tumor. Todos los complejos presentan una relación de % Dosis/g en Tumor/Músculo mayor a 1 a las 4 h post inyección debid ción de la actividad en el tumor y a la depuración de los demás tejidos. La mayor relación la presentó el COMPLEJO 1 con un valor de 4.22±0.07 a las 4 h. Los estudios estructurales empleando Re estable indicarían que es correcta la estructura propuesta para los complejos 5 y 6, siendo necesarios más estudios a fin de poder confirmar o descartar la e sta en los otros casos. Se pudieron realizar en la tesis todas las etapas involucradas en el desarrollo de un nuevo radiofármaco, desde la selección del farmacóforo, síntesis orgánica, marcación, estudios fisicoquímicos hasta la evaluación biológica.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
A new procedure combining dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry was proposed for the determination of molybdenum in plants and animal tissue. The optimized conditions for the microextraction procedure were: 150 μL of 0.3 mol L−1 potassium ethyl xanthate (pH 1.4) and 1000 μL of acetonitrile and 50 μL of carbon tetrachloride as dispersive and extractant solvent, respectively. A limit of detection of 0.03 μg kg−1 and a limit of quantification of 0.11 μg kg−1, as well as an enrichment factor of 200, were achieved employing this procedure. Standard reference materials were used for trueness and precision evaluation. No significant differences were found at the 95% confidence level between certified and obtained values, and the precision expressed as repeatability (sr %) was 4.1% for animal tissue and 4.7% for plant material. The method was successfully applied for the determination of Mo in bovine meat and pasture samples from different livestock establishments.

A comparative genetic analysis of 42 clinical Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates, resistant to two or more antibiotics belonging to the broad-spectrum �-lactam group, sourced from Sydney, Australia, and three South American countries is presented. The study focuses on the genetic contexts of class 1 integrons, mobilizable genetic elements best known for their role in the rapid evolution of antibiotic resistance among Gram-negative pathogens. It was found that the class 1 integrons in this cohort were located in a number of different genetic contexts with clear regional differences. In Sydney, IS26-associated Tn21-like transposons on IncL/M plasmids contribute greatly to the dispersal of integron-associated multiple-drug-resistant (MDR) loci. In contrast, in the South American countries, Tn1696-like transposons on an IncA/C plasmid(s) appeared to be disseminating a characteristic MDR region. A range of mobile genetic elements is clearly being recruited by clinically important mobile class 1 integrons, and these elements appear to be becoming more common with time. This in turn is driving the evolution of complex and laterally mobile MDR units and may further complicate antibiotic therapy

The dissipation of field-applied difenoconazole, imidacloprid, pyraclostrobin and spinosad on Clementine mandarins (Citrus clementina Hort. ex Tan.) under controlled conditions throughout the citrus production chain was assessed. At harvest, 42 days after application, the dissipation of these pesticides were 80, 92, and 48% for difenoconazole, imidacloprid, pyraclostrobin, respectively, and spinosad was below the level of detectability. At day 28 after application, spinosad was no longer detected. The model equations that best describe the dissipation curves of these pesticides on Clementine mandarins showed different patterns. Their half-life on Clementine, calculated by the best-fitted experimental data, were 19.2 day (1st-order model) for difenoconazole, 4.1 day (Root Factor (RF) 1st-order model) for imidacloprid, 39.8 day (2nd-order model) for pyraclostrobin and 5.8 day (1st-order model) for spinosad. These results are the first record of pyraclostrobin persistence on mandarins, showing a longer half-life in this matrix than those reported for any other fruit. The treated fruit were harvested and submitted to the usual postharvest treatments: first, a hypochlorite drenching was performed; as a second step, imazalil and wax were applied, and then the mandarins were stored at 4 °C. After 32 days, cold storage caused no significant effects on the residue levels of the four pesticides compared with those determined on freshly harvested mandarins. All residues were below their Codex and European Union (EU) maximum residue limit (MRL) for mandarin since the spray application day.

A summary of the resource.
The dissipation of 4 commercial pre-harvest pesticides used in two Citrus species under field conditions is presented. The influence of agroecological region, the Citrus species and weather conditions on abamectin, spinosad, imidacloprid and difenoconazole dissipation rate on fruits were evaluated. A validated ethyl acetate method coupled to liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry allowed the determination of pesticide residues having recoveries of 72–115%, relative standard deviations ≤16% and quantification limits below the international Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs). After 35–40 days from pesticides spraying, all residues were below the international required MRL. For each citrus species, the influence of the agroecological region on the pesticide dissipation was assessed. Film-protected fruits against direct radiation and rain showed higher residue levels of imidacloprid and spinosad than the non-protected ones. Either for orange or mandarin, abamectin residues were detectable only at the first day after application. These findings provide useful information to state safer pre harvest intervals and to ensure food safety and compliance with good agricultural practices.
