Abstract
A summary of the resource.
The report of an AIEA meeting held in April 1976 reviews the work carried out by the participants of an IAEA-Coordinated Research Programme on Rapid Methods for the Quality Control of Radiopharmaceuticals. The applicability of the radiometric sterility testing and the limulus test for pyrogens is examined. The current status, advantages and limitations of these techniques are presented as well as the conclusions and recommendations drawn up by the participants. The IAEA coordinated work confirmed that both techniques are more rapid than the corresponding standard ones and are suitable for most radiopharmaceuticals.

<p>Se describen y comentan los distintos medios de captura utilizados.</p>

A summary of the resource.
<p>La importancia de la presencia de gérmenes (bacterias, hongos y levaduras) en los alimentos, es cada día más notoria. Dadas las condiciones climáticas de nuestro país, la ingestión de ensaladas crudas es abundante durante el verano, por lo cual se eligieron lechugas, berros y escarolas como sustrato en la búsqueda de hongos y levaduras. Se trabajó con los productos lavados y sin lavar, habiéndose encontrado que la carga microbiana incial es considerablemente alta disminuyendo totalmente durante el lavado. Los materiales fueron tratados según técnicas standard. Todas las muestras consideradas dieron resultados positivos tanto para hongos filagéneros Trichoderma, Aspergillus, Penicillum, Alternaria, Geotrichum, Rohdotorula, Torulopsis. Si bien todos estos géneros están dentro de la flora normal del suelo nuestro interés se centró en la identificación de especies posibles productoras de microtoxinas.</p>
<p>No debe descartarse el riesgo potencial que puede significar una carga microbiana elevada sobre todo en personas cuyas defensas estén disminuidas.</p>

A summary of the resource.
<p>Se examinaron 100 muestras de productos cárnicos crudos y cocidos con la finalidad de efectuar un estudio cuali y cuantitativode Clostridios sulfito reductores. Las muestras fueron adquiridas en diferentes puestos de venta de la ciudad de Montevideo.</p>
<p>Los productos estudiados fueron embutidos crudos y cocidos. En toas las muestras se efectuó recuento por el número más probable, procediéndose a la posterior clasificación de 100 cepas de Clostridios sulfito reductores provenients del 64% de las muestras.</p>
<p>Los valores estuvieron comprendidos entre 100y> de 500 C. S. R/g en los productos crudos y 5 a 500 en los cocidos.</p>
<p>Se estudiaron 50 muestras con la única finalidad de detectar Clostridium pernfringens encontrándose en el 75%. De los 50 restantes, crudas y cocidas se clasificaron 100 cepas siendo la insidencia la siguiente:</p>
<p>C. perfringes 30%; C. acetobutylicum, 20%; C. bifermentans, 18%; C. sporongenes, 10%; sin clasificar, 22%.</p>
<p>Se discute el valor de los clostridios sulfito reductores como índice de calidad microbiológica, así como el riesgo provocado por la presencia de presuntos C. perfringens tipo A en los productos estudiados.</p>

A summary of the resource.
<p>En el presente trabajo se estudió la evolución del equilibrio osmótico en conservas de gajos de Satsuma durante el almacenamiento, en función de la temperatura del mismo y de la concentración del jarabe utilizado.</p>
<p>Se comprobo que la temperatura de almacenamiento de las conservas afecta la velocidad con que se alcanza el equilibrio osmótico. Esto se manifestó al estudiar sólidos solubles y acidez en gajos y jarabe, asi como peso escurrido y transparencia del jarabe. Se comprobó en todos los casos que el equilibrio se logra más rápidamente a la temperatura de almacenamiento más elevada.</p>
<p>Se constató asimismo, que la concentración inicial de jarabe, y por tanto, la concentración final de equilibrio, influyen sobre la velocidad con que se logra el equilibrio osmótico.</p>
<p>Estudiados los mimos parámetros de intercambio, el equilibrio se logra antes a la menor concentración final deseada.</p>

A summary of the resource.
<p>Se define genuinidad de un alimento (conjunto de cualidades que satisfacen las especificaciones legales respecto de los caracteresde ese tipo de alimento) como un caso particularde la calidad de un alimento dado.</p>
<p>Esta particularidad se traduce no sólo en la forma como se fijan los parámetros de genuinidad, sino también en que, el Control de la calidad - genuinidad, además de ser de la responsabilidad de la fábrica, es de la inevitable incumbencia de las instituciones estatales (nacionales, estaduales, provinciales o municipales) competentes.</p>
<p>Se observa que, mientras el Control de la Calidad a nivel de la industria ha evolucionado ampliamente en la postguerra, el Control de la Calidad - genuinidad por las instituciones estatales citadas está muy alejado de aquella evolución.</p>
<p>Se destaca que, al menos en los países subdesarrollados o en desarrollo, esta casi obsolescencia perjudica al consumidor final, que es sorprendido en la buena fe y cae en el consumo de alimentos que, potencial o realmente pueden afectar su salud, sea por su menor valor nutritivo, sea por su adulteración, alteración o contaminación.</p>
<p>También perjudica al industrial honesto que se ve sometido a una competencia desleal que afecta directa o indirectamente su economía. Y finalmente afecta además el mejoramiento de la calidad en general, que se enlentece o se estanca.</p>

A summary of the resource.
<p>La pequeña, mediana y aún mismo mucha de la gran industria alimentaria de países latinoamericanos, no sólo no elabora alimentos conforme a Normas Técnicas sino que es reacia a la normalización.</p>
<p>Muchos industriales son, consciente o inconscientemente sensibles a la necesidad de mejorar la calidad de los alimentos y captan que la calidad no es algo estático, sino esencialmente dinámico.</p>
<p>Sin embargo, no han podido comprender o no se les ha hecho ver, que el mejoramiento de la calidad será más rápido y positivo y que les será más fácil manejar o tener bajo control la calidad si recurren a la Normalización.</p>
<p>La espiral del mejoramiento de la calidad necesita una espina dorsal en la cual apoyarse. Esa espina dorsal es la normalización. Pero una normalización que atienda las necesidades y deseos de la gran masa de la población consumidora y no de un grupo selecto de la misma.</p>
<p>La propia característica de una Norma técnica (acuerdo del sector producción, sector consumo y sector técnico y docente independiente de ambos, para la solución de un problema de normalización) ofrece al industrial una real posibilidad de incidir en la fijación de los parámetros de calidad en forma mucho más accesible y ágil que la que le ofrece una norma legal.</p>
<p>Pero no basta que el industrial acepte y produzca conforme a una norma nacional o internacional. Se le debe hacer comprender, la conveniencia de poseer normas propias de la fábrica y que esto es aplicable a industrias de muy diversa capacidad productiva.</p>

<p>El material uruguayo de STENANDRIUM presentaba grandes dificultades iniciales para su clasificación si se utilizan los caracteres más comunmente empleados en la taxonomía de este género, como ser: presencia o ausencia de tallo, forma, color y dimensiones de la corola, longitud del escapo floral, etc. Las variaciones en nuestro casoson tan pequeñas considerando esos elementos, que no nos permitían separar los especímenes e incluirlos en las dos especies determinadas para Uruguay: Stenandrium-diphyllum Nees y St. trinerve Nees (Herter, 1930 y otros).</p>
<p>Orientamos las invetigaciones taxonómicas basándolas primero en los caracteres del polen (Lindau, 1895) y luego en histo - morfología, lo que nos llevó a diferenciar en nuestro país 4 especies, una de ellas nueva.</p>
<p>En oportunidad de las XI Jornadas Argentinas de Botánica realizadas en Buenos Aires- Montevideo en octubre de 1970, se comunican nuestras primeras experiencias en este tema y se concuerda con la Dra. G. Dawson (Museo de La Plata), que el carácter "longitud del escapo" y la relación "longitud del escapo/longitud de hojas" tienen escaso valor taxonómico, ya que después de la antesis el eje floral continúa creciendo. Se anotan algunas diferencias más entre las especies St. dulce (Cav.) Nees y St. vinerve Nees, considerándose ambas especies válidas.</p>
<p>El presente trabajo comprende la descripción del género Stenarium en el Uruguay, una clave de las especies, descripción de las mismas y dibujos analíticos.</p>
