Bismuth-based chalcohalides have garnered significant attention over the past five years due to their promising optoelectronic properties, and applicability in photodetection, ionizing radiation detection, photocatalysis, and solar cells. Among these compounds, Bi19S27I3 stands out as a novel material with relatively unexplored synthesis and properties. In this study, we introduce a green synthesis approach for Bi19S27I3 nanostructures, employing the hot injection method under mild conditions with water as the solvent. By utilizing polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a capping agent with molar proportions [PEG : Bi] 0.5 : 1, 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 and adjusting the reaction time (5 min or 270 min), we successfully controlled the morphology, yielding either round nanoparticles, nanorolls, or a combination of both. For instance, longer reaction times such as 270 min enhance the crystallinity of the material and also encourage morphology uniformity, while PEG favors a rounded morphology. Our findings underscore the significant capping effect of PEG, particularly evident in the photocatalytic activity of Bi19S27I3 towards Cr(VI) reduction. Through this facile and efficient synthesis strategy, we tailored the morphology of Bi19S27I3 and demonstrated its efficacy in Cr(VI) photocatalysis, achieving a remarkable 91% reduction for the nanoroll-based sample with PEG: Bi [1 : 1]. This innovative approach not only provides an environmentally friendly method for synthesizing Bi19S27I3 but also highlights its potential as an effective photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

A summary of the resource.
The reaction of CrCl36H2O with the ligand bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane (L) yielded the cationic complex [(Cr(L)(H2O)2Cl2]+, which crystallized as the chloride trihydrate [(Cr(L)(H2O)2Cl2]Cl·3H2O. The chromium complex was characterized by elemental analysis, electrical conductivity, Infrared and Ultraviolet/Visible spectroscopy. The crystal structure determination using single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed a chromium center in a distorted octahedral coordination sphere. In the crystal, the packing was directed by OH⋯(O,Cl) hydrogen bonds and weak CH⋯O interactions to build a monoclinic P21/c supramolecular structure. The complex showed excellent properties as an initiator for the ring opening polymerization of є-caprolactone (CL) under solvent-free conditions. The obtained polymer showed high crystallinity (89.9%) and a decomposition temperature above 475 °C. In addition, the new complex was evaluated against epimastigotes from Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) strains. The results indicated that this complex has a high activity against this parasite with a minimum inhibitory concentration 50 (MIC50) of 1.08 μg/mL. Interestingly, this compound showed little effect on erythrocytes, indicating that it is not cytotoxic. These results provide interesting contributions to the design of metal complexes by using simple and accessible ligands with activity against T. cruzi and with potential applications in the polymerization of CL.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
n this work, a flow analysis procedure for the determination of copper, chromium, iron and lead in lubricating oils using flame AAS as detection technique is described. The flow manifold was designed to implement the multicommutation approach and it comprised three 3-way solenoid valves controlled by a personal computer. The flow system presented allowed to process the oil samples to determine wear metals without any prior preparation. Aiming to assess accuracy the results were compared with those obtained by manual procedure using flame AAS. Applying the joint-confidence ellipse test, no significant difference at the 95% confidence level was observed. Other profitable features such as a sample throughput of 50 determinations per hour; relative standard deviations (n = 5) below 2% for Cu, and below 8% for Cr, Fe and Pb; and linear responses in the range 0-40ppm (w/w) (Cu, Fe) and 0-15ppm (w/w) (Cr, Pb) were also achieved.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
La produccion biologica de metano a partir de materia organica es un procedimiento eficaz para reducir la contaminacion de efluentes domesticos e industriales. Las bacterias que intervienen en el proceso componen diferentes grupos troficos que actuan en forma secuencial, la ultima etapa de las cuales es la metanogenesis. En esta tesis se investigo el efecto del Cr+3, un toxico potencial presente en las aguas residuales y en los lodos de las curtiembres, sobre las bacterias de estos diferentes grupos troficost Se establecio un orden de sensibilidad y se determino que las mas afectadas fueron las bacterias metanogenicas degradadoras de acetato. Se encontro correlacion entre la actividad metabolica de estos microorganismos en cultivo puro y formando parte de un ecosistema bacteriano complejo. Ademas de la ,concentracion de cromo, totros parametros como la concentracion de biomasa 0 la presencia de ion ferrico modificaron el comportamiento del sistema y podrfan manejarse para mejorar la eficiencia del proceso Se establecio que las bacterias metanogenicas acetotrofas sobreviven a concentraciones de cromo muy superiores alas inhibitorias de la metanogenesis y que tienen cierta capacidad de adaptacion. Estos resultados tambien pueden contribufr a minimizar la inhibicion de la metanogenesis en un digestor anaerobio. Los ensayos con cultivos puros de bacterias metanogenicas acetotrofas permitieron inferir algunos aspectos del mecanisme de acci6n del cromo. La inhibici6n de la metanogenesis depende de la concentración de ión libre 0 quelado, no interfiere con la captura de metales esenciales, y difiere cuantitativamente segun el sustrato utilizado. La diferencia de tolerancia que se observó entre las bacterias metanogenicas de los dos unicos Generos capaces de degradar acetato permite predecir el comportamiento de un digestor anaerobio alimentado con este tipo de efluente y configurar una hipótesis sobre el desarrollo de estos microorganismos en presencia de un grupo mas amplio de tóxicos.
