Abstract

Heavymetaliodidessuchasmercuriciodideandbismuthtri-iodideareamongthematerialswiththe best propertiesforroomtemperaturesemiconductordetection.Theuseofnanostructuresofthese compounds – recentlysynthesized – as precursorsfornucleationoforientedlayers,opensnew perspectivesforlayergrowthand,throughthem,thepossibilityofanewgenerationofdetectorswith enhanced imagingperformance.Thementionedheavymetaliodidesweresynthesizedinthisworkin 1-octadecene assolvent,usingoctadecanethiol(ODT)ortrioctylphosphine(TOP)ascappingagents.This is the first reportofmorphologyandsizecontrolofmercuriciodideandbismuthtri-iodide nanostructures usingcappingagents. WeobtainedpromisingresultsformercuriciodidewithODTandforbismuthtri-iodidewithTOP, which willstartanewtrendinnucleationofheavymetaliodides
