BIBLIOGRAFIA NACIONAL QUIMICA

This special issue contains a selection of the papers presented at the XXVIIIth International Congress of Theoretical Chemists of Latin Expression, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, 1–8 September 2002. The first two congresses were held simultaneously in Modena, Italy, and in Madrid, Spain, in 1969. Since then, the meeting has regularly been held in several Latin countries in Europe and Latin America. In 2002, the congress was held in Montevideo and gathered together around 200 scientists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, France, Italy, Me´xico, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela, besides some Latin descendents working in the United States of America. This special issue comprises selected and referred contributions presented at the Montevideo congress as plenary lectures, invited papers, oral communications and posters. We wish to express our warm thanks to all the participants who contributed to the success of this meeting through their valuable contributions. The local organizing committee is also warmly thanked.
